Pentacles · IX
Nine of Pentacles
Self-possessed plenty. Skill, money, or solitude that is a garden, not a jail. Enjoy the falcon. Remember the snail — this was grown, not granted by a mood.
- ELEMENT
- earth
- NUMBER
- Nine — near-full: a garden of nine, a falcon, leisure that was grown.
- SYMBOLS
- a standing figure in a vineyard of nine discs, a bird on the gloved hand · a great house behind, the life the garden funds · a gown of harvest, the body at ease in its own estate · a snail at the margin, time having been allowed to work
UPRIGHT
- +earned ease
- +a room of one's own that is actually a garden
- +taste, craft, the body as a place you like
- −isolation dressed as elegance
- −taste as a class weapon
- −a garden no one else is allowed to walk
- IN LOVE
- Independence that can still invite. Do not require a partner to complete a garden that is already fruiting — and do not use the garden to need no one as a boast.
- IN WORK
- A practice that pays, a reputation, working for yourself. Tend it. The falcon is discipline, not only status.
- IN SELF
- You may be enough in a material way. Let that be true. Plenty is not a moral error.
REVERSED
The garden is fenced too hard, or the fruit is gone — lonely wealth, a loss of ease, or a private orchard of self-sufficiency that will not be shared.
- Blocked — the upright current exists and is dammed.
- Shadow — the unused face of the card.
- Internalized — the drama is inner rather than worldly.
Blocked Nine of Pentacles cannot enjoy what was grown. Shadow Nine uses taste to rank people. Inner Nine is a secret sufficiency.
