WANDS · VII
Seven of Wands
Hold the hill you actually chose. This is not a war against the world; it is the test of whether your stance can take pressure.
- ELEMENT
- fire
- NUMBER
- Seven — test of stance: high ground, six below, one above.
- SYMBOLS
- a figure on a rise defending with a stave, boots not quite planted · six staves thrusting from below, many claims on one hill · a river in the green distance, the life beyond the test · a look that is strain and nerve together, not panic
UPRIGHT
- +courage under multiple demands
- +knowing which ground is yours
- +saying no without leaving the post
- −defending a hill that is not worth the river
- −everyone as an attacker, including allies
- −pride that cannot come down
- IN LOVE
- A bond under pressure from outside — family, time, old patterns. Hold what is yours. Check you are not fighting the beloved.
- IN WORK
- Competition, critique, too many stakeholders. Stand. Then decide if the hill is still the work.
- IN SELF
- You can take more heat than you think. You cannot take all heat. Pick the post.
REVERSED
The hill is being abandoned too soon — or held as a personality of being besieged.
- Blocked — the upright current exists and is dammed.
- Excess — the current is overplayed.
- Shadow — the unused face of the card.
Blocked Seven of Wands yields the stance before the test is real. Excess never comes down, even to eat. Shadow turns every question into an assault.
